The Inspiration and Evolution

Evolution:
As you browse our website or examine our parts in your dealer's showroom, do you ever wonder, "How did this part get here?" or, "Where did it come from?" Like gold or silver to a jeweler, or bronze to a sculptor, our medium is chrome. Motorcycling's precious metal is passionately manipulated into masterpieces intended to adorn the two-wheeled object of your affection and ultimately make a statement about your individuality. Each Küryakyn product starts as someone's great idea or vision of function transformed into art. A customer visiting our tent at a rally, a call or letter from an enthusiast, visualization from a member of our design team, or an improvement to a product recognized by one of our employees are all seeds from which our products grow. This is when a concept is born and the metamorphosis begins. The first two-dimensional manifestation of the form starts as a simple sketch or a drawing. A third dimension evolves with the transformation into a hand made or CAD (Computer Assisted Design) model of the part. Different variations are created in-house using our rapid prototyping machines. These rudimentary parts are evaluated for design and proper fit on the subject motorcycle. Since this phase allows creation of a part virtually out of thin air, changes in styling or fit are made at this time. Once the design is finalized and parts are tested and approved, the project is released for tooling (the process of making molds or fixtures) where the final part will be manufactured. Initial samples of the actual parts are produced and subjected to careful scrutiny by quality control where they are inspected for flawless finish, perfect fit on the motorcycle, and road tested. The samples are then photographed, packaging is designed, and instructions are developed. Any last minute adjustments are made and finally the product is approved for production. The final and most important step is when our product becomes part of your bike, adding to it a distinctive, personalized appearance, and giving you satisfaction, pride, and the pleasure of owning and riding a better looking motorcycle.
